Rounds 7 and 8 saw Rossi drop to 3rd position opening the doors for Biaggi, Capirossi and Gibernau to claw back some points from the fading Italian. With the press on his back, Rossi needed to display the magic that seemed so effortless in 2002, which he duly did.
